Manitoba Buddhist Temple

Shinran broke his vows of celibacy by marrying the nun Eshinni. However, it is understood that Shinran viewed marriage as a turning point when he abandoned the traditional life of a Buddhist priest. Congregations began to follow the couples example, whereby men and women led Shin temples as husband-and-wife teams. Eshinni is referred to as the "Mother" of Jodo Shinshu. On Sunday, January 27th, 2008 the Fujinkai organized the Eshinni service. The service and program was conducted by "women only". A presentation on "Body and Mind and the Buddhist Connection" was presented by Val Paape, Head Instructor at Yoga North. Also included were demonstrations of Yoga and Tai Chi plus a short discussion on "Homeopathy".
