Jodo
Shinshu Buddhists of Thunder Bay
Shin Buddhism offers spiritual guidance and a
simple practise for people with busy family, community and
career commitments. Family life is integrated into our
practise, for both lay and minister alike.
We follow the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Our
teachings are understandable, meditation and chanting
achievable, and practises attainable by ordinary people. We
believe in personal open-minded reflection, direct
experience, wisdom, compassion and liberation from
suffering. We do not have a deity nor do we blindly follow
a creed or teacher. Everyone of any race, age, gender,
sexual-orientation, ethnicity, education, religious
background, or status is welcome. We are all equal on the
path to enlightenment.
The
Jodo Shinshu Buddhists of Thunder
Bay are located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are
led by a twenty-five year practitioner trained as a
Lay Leader in the Jodo Shinshu tradition. Although,
the focus in on Shin, the group does not follow a
single path. Chants, recitations, etc. are used from
various sects. Dharma study and discussions focus on
the practical use of Buddhism in the twenty-first
century.
