Buddhist Temple Scholarships
Taniguchi Rokusaburo Scholarship
(graduating from grade
12)
1. This award is open to all
those who attends Dharma School, or who have attended
Dharma School in the past, and who meet the necessary
criteria. For further clarification, contact one of the
board members.
2. The scholarship will be awarded to a student graduating
from grade twelve (12) with high academic standing. The
final decision will be made by the Manitoba Buddhist Temple
Scholarship Committee Members.
3. The scholarship will be in the amount of $400.00 and
this award will be presented to the recipient at the
Manitoba Buddhist Church before the year end.
4. A further requirement is that the student must enroll at
a post secondary school: eg: university, college or
provincial technical institute, etc. Submit proof of
registration.
5. Qualified students who wish to apply for the above noted
scholarship must submit their applications to the Manitoba
Buddhist Temple Scholarship Committee with the following
information by September 30th.
a. The applicant's name, address, age and phone number.
b. Name of secondary school from which you have graduated
and also the name of the principal or guidance teacher.
c. Original transcript of Grade 12 final marks with a
minimum of 75% overall average.
d. Name of university, college or technical institute to
which you have applied and also the major subject that you
will be taking to further your education with a note on
career plans and goals.
e. Two letters of reference.

Memorial Bursary
1. This award is open to all
those who attends Dharma School, or who have attended
Dharma School in the past, and who meet the necessary

2. The bursary will be awarded to a student graduating from
grade twelve (12). The successful applicant will be
selected based on academic standing and involvement with
church activities. The final decision will be made by the
Scholarship Committee Members.
3. The bursary will be in the amount of $500.00 and this
award will be presented to the recipient at the Manitoba
Buddhist Temple before the year end.
4. A further requirement is that the student must enroll at
a post secondary school: eg: university, college or
provincial technical institute, etc. Submit proof of
registration.
5 Qualified students who wish to apply for the above noted

Victor
Kobayashi Memorial Scholarship
(advancing from first year university and
beyond)
1.
This award is open to all those who attends Dharma School,
or who have attended Dharma School in the past, and who
meet the necessary criteria. For further clarification,
contact one of the board members.
2. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has
successfully completed first year university with a minimum
2.5 grade point average and intends to continue on with
courses beyond first year (ie. any student going into
second year or higher). A transcript of 1st year marks must
be attached. The final decision will be made by the
Manitoba Buddhist Temple Scholarship Committee Members.
3. The scholarship will be in the amount of $500.00 and
this award will be presented to the recipient at the
Manitoba Buddhist Temple before the year end.
4. Students must submit proof of registration for
continuing their studies.
5. Students must submit information on their involvement
and participation in extra curricular activities, clubs,
sports, volunteer work, community involvement, etc.
6. The applications must be supported by two letters of
reference, preferably one regarding university studies and
the other regarding the student's extra curricular
activities.
7. Qualified students who wish to apply for the above noted
scholarship must submit their applications to the Manitoba
Buddhist Temple Scholarship Committee by September 30th.
8. The recipient can only qualify once in order that as
many students as possible have the opportunity to apply.
