Agape
Table
On the
evening of January 11, 2007, members of the Manitoba
Buddhist Temple washed rice and prepared pork chow mein at
the Temple. Roughly 250 servings of chow mein and rice were
prepared and transported to All Saints Church for storage
until next morning.
Members included: Robert Miyai, Ted Nakano, Joe &
Miyoko Okano, Randy Takeuchi, Tamiko Yamashita, Max
Utsunomiya, Marc Courtney, and Jim Hisanaga.
The Manitoba Buddhist Temple participated with
Agape Table Inc. on the morning of January 12, 2007
and served the New Year meal to approximately 150
people at All Saints’ Church. Normally, there are 250
regulars for the soup kitchen meals. A hot serving of
pork chow mein and rice were served.
It appears that crowd enjoyed the oriental meal since many
came back for seconds and there were no leftovers.
Members from the Manitoba Buddhist Temple who participated
at the New Year meal included: Mas and Naomi Miyai, Tanis
Moore, Ted Nakano, Miyoko Okano, Tamiko Yamashita, Max
Utsunomiya, Marc Courtney, and Jim Hisanaga.
The Manitoba Buddhist Temple would like to thank all the
individuals who assisted with this worthy project. We would
like to continue with another meal in the future and
hopefully count on you for assistance.
Jim Hisanaga
